My Leica Summicron 50mm F2 on my Fujifilm XT5…. A move to a slower pace.
I have tried a few manual lenses on my XT5 and have always loved the shift from super speedy autofocus to a more deliberate style and pace to photography.
Having recently bought a Fuji/Leica adaptor, all I needed was a trip to the Lake District to try out my Fujifilm XT5 with my Leica Summicron 50mm F2.
The Focus Peak Highlight setting is a great aid and helped me zone in and out of the subjects and I did manage to get a few shots in focus. I am however much preferring the not too perfect shoot these days rather than everything pin sharp… that’s my excuse anyway!
Hawkshead in the Lake District has always been one of my favourite places and a cheap overnight stay in the Youth Hostel was all that was needed to allow me the opportunity to test out the new rig. The Hawkshead Youth Hostel is a lovely old building with lots of character and as always the staff at the YHA locations were superb.
I had two sessions in mind; a bluebell shoot and an early morning trip to Tarn Hows.
Bluebell season is well underway and I found a small copse away from the honey pot locations and used the last of the evening light to illuminate this wonderful subject.
No tripods, everything hand held, and no bluebells harmed throughout the session!
Tarn Hows is a great picturesque place if you get there really early and beat the crowds. This session was perfect, with a bit of morning mist and haze to add some softness to the shots. I think the Leica lens also brings a certain softness to the colours that I don’t seem to get with my Fujifilm lenses.
I like the results, and loved the opportunity to slow things down and move at a much slower pace.
Hope you like the results?
