One camera, one lens and a roll of film… the love affair continues.

With a change in the weather forecast and the purchase of a Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm lens for my Leica, I just had to head north to the Lake District.

I wanted to keep things simple and decided that I would leave the digital camera at home and challenge myself with the use of my Leica M6 with my new lens.

I had a roll of Kodak Portra 400 in my draw, so shoved the kit in my bag and headed to the Youth Hostel in Ambleside.

I have never used this YHA before and it did not disappoint; with a view straight onto Lake Windermere and within walking distance of the pubs in Ambleside, it proved to be the perfect choice.

My initial plan was to head out to St Sunday Crag from Patterdale, on the Sunday Morning, but I decided to stay local and test the lens on the shores of Lake Windermere.

This was proven to be a great decision as the chilly morning, managed to produce some warming pink skys and great light in which to test the new kit.

Use of film, a manual focus lens and tripod slowed my pace and helped me enjoy the morning sounds and sights in a more leisurely fashion. It’s the way I love my landscape photography. It’s more about the being there and the craft than getting brilliant photographs.

I will certainly remember this slow paced, tranquil morning and some of the photographs have turned out not too bad either.

The love affair continues… just loving my M6 and the Voigtlander was a joy to use. A match in heaven!

Hope you like the shots?
